Potterton boilers

The Potterton brand has been manufacturing boilers for over 100 years, with founder Thomas Potterton installing the company’s first gas boiler with the Victor boiler in 1902.

It has since gone on to build more than five million boilers, win a Which? Best Buy award for two years running in 2006 and 2007 and become part of the Baxi Group - one of the biggest boiler manufacturers in Europe.

History

Thomas Potterton founded the company as a general contractors firm in London in 1850, installing his first boiler 12 years on in 1902.

By the 1930s Potterton boilers had been installed in number 10 Downing Street and the Odeon Leicester Square.

One of the first manufacturers of modern generation gas-fired boilers, Potterton launched its series of Diplomat boilers in 1955 and had produced its millionth boiler by 1969.

The company won the first ever award of excellence given by the Institute of Domestic Heat Engineers for its revolutionary Netaheat wall hung boiler only four years later.

Today Potterton is part of the Baxi Group and has produced more than five million boilers, which have been awarded Best Buy awards from the UK’s biggest consumer watchdog, Which? for two years running.

Awards

Another Which? Best Buy winner, Potterton’s Gold Combi 24 HE boiler has won the award in both 2006 and 2007, with the magazine saying although it is “slightly cheaper choice than our other Best Buys, [it] still manages to combine high efficiency, low NOx emissions, convenient features and ease of use”.

Specialities

Potterton offers a range of gas boilers - including its Best Buy Gold Combi 24 HE - as well as a range of heat-only, system and floor standing boilers to suit all homes. It also prides itself on its after-care service to keep customers happy and safe with their new boiler.

It also offers both in-roof and on-roof solar panels, and a range of accessories for its Potterton Solar brands.

It doesn’t offer any other renewable energy products but does have a grants page to help you find funding for your solar panels.
