HomeCall+ went into administration in May 2011 and is banned by the FSA from taking on new business. However, existing HomeCall+ customers need to be aware of how they stand with their policies now the company has gone bust.
On 19 May 2011, news broke that HomeCall+ had gone into administration.
As HomeCall+ has gone into administration, it can no longer issue new insurance policies. However, it can still take monthly payments on existing policies, so take immediate steps to cancel your HomeCall+ monthly direct debits.
If you signed up for - or renewed - your HomeCall+ policy before 3 December 2010, then your policy is underwritten by Brit Insurance and those policies will be honoured.
If you signed up (or renewed) the policy after 3 December, the policy is technically invalid.
However, rival HomeServe (www.homeserve.com) has put together a rescue package for HomeCall+ policyholders who have been left without cover.
On condition you can prove you purchased your HomeCall+ policy after 3 December 2010 then, for the token payment of £1, you can sign-up to HomeServe’s Home Emergency Cover which will protect you for 12 months.
